Thai Literature and drama were inspired by the Indian arts and Hindu legends. the Ramayana is popularly known as the Ramakien in Thailand. the Khon characterized by men wearing ferocious masks and the Lakhon performed by women is the two most popular classical Thai dances. these dances drew inspiration from the Ramakien. the Piphat is the percussion instrument used to accompany the dance. Nang Talung is a shadow play of Thailand which is inspired by Bommalatam of south India. the shadows are made from the hides of cow or water buffalo to represent human figures along with movable arms and legs to cast shadows to form on the screen for the entertainment o spectators.
