Jagjit Singh (1941 – 2011)

Jagjit Singh was known as ‘Gazal King’. He was a renowned Indian singer.  He was also a greatly talented writer, and musician. He was successful in achieving victory with his soulful and mesmerizing voice in several genres of music. His music ranges from romantic melodies to sad compositions, and devotional hymns. His wife was Chitra who is one of the leading singers.  The couple soon became famous for creating musical magic together. Unfortunately, after the death of their only son, his wife gave up music. He was also deeply troubled.  Although grieving with pain, Jagjit Singh continued to sing and amazed audiences. He was well known for communicating the deepest human emotions through his art.
